Proposed Mankoli – Motagaon Road
Construction of six lane bridge across Ulhas creek having length 980 meter on proposedMankoli Motagaon road connecting KDMC municipal limit at Motagaon (Dombivali) to Suraivillage. This missing link will connect KDMC municipal limit to Thane & Bhivandi municipal limit with shortest distance via development plan road. Constructing this bridge on Ulhas creek
(east west) at motagaon (Dombivali) and mankoli (Bhivandi Taluka) will form shortest connectivity to population of three municipal limits benefiting to about 60 lacs people.
Alignment of proposed Mankoli Motagaon road is part of development plan of MMRDA on Surai Side and Development plan of KDMC on Motagaon Site. Therefore it is not possible to
change the alignment in bridge portion only. Therefore it is necessary to pass the alignment from this location only.

Languishing for almost two years, finally the project of constructing a pair of bridges over Ulhas Creek at Motagaon in Kalyan may commence soon with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis performing ground breaking ceremony on Sunday.
The ceremony was held near Durgadi Fort on Sunday afternoon. "The two bridges have been proposed considering the growing populace and vehicular traffic on the Mankoli-Dombivali stretch," said an MMRDA official.
The 1.3km long Mankoli-Motagaon bridge will connect Kalyan with Dombivali railway station reducing the distance to 4 km; the 820 meter bridge near Durgadi Fort over Ulhas Creek will help decongest the existing Creek Bridge and reduce the Mumbai-Nashik travel time. Both the bridges are aimed at reducing traffic chaos, travel time and pollution that is being caused by heavy vehicular traffic.
The Rs 223 crore Mankoli-Motagaon bridge is expected to be completed within the period of 36 months and the Rs76 crore bridge over Ulhas Creek near Durgadi Fort is expected to be completed within the period of 24 months.
The bridges will connect the National Highway-3 (NH-3) with the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) area. The bridge will also provide vital connectivity between NH-3 and Kalyan bypass.
The bidding process for these bridges had got over in September 2014, and since then, it took two years for the MMRDA to perform bhoomipujan. Hadit managed to begin construction immediately after finalising the tenders, at least the second bridge over Ulhas Bridge near Durgadi Fort would have been in the finishing stages and in a couple of months would have been inaugurated for larger public benefit

SMART CITY - Kalyan-Dombivli make it to list
CM promises Metro for Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Dombivli will sign agreement with software giant Oracle to make Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Dombivli smart cities
Five cities from Maharashtra have made it to the list of 27 smart cities announced on Tuesday.
Manisha Mhaiskar, principal secretary, urban development (UD) II, said the state government has selected ten cities to compete for the Centre's Smart City Project. In the first round, held this January, Pune and Solapur were selected. In the second, whose results were announced on Tuesday, five cities, including Aurangabad, Kalyan-Dombivli, Nagpur, Nashik and Thane, were selected.
Mhaiskar said, "Maharashtra is the only state where seven cities have been selected for this project. The state government had announced that while the cities will compete for central funding, the state will fund their projects through MMRDA and Cidco till they are selected by the Centre."
Mhaiskar further said in the current budget, the state government has made a provision of Rs 1,000 crore for the project. While the Centre will provide Rs 100 crore per year for five years, the state government is required to provide Rs 50 crore and the urban local body another Rs 50 crore annually.
The areas proposed for smart city development by municipal bodies would have facilities such as assured water, power supply, proper sanitation and solid waste management systems, efficient urban mobility, public transportation, IT connectivity and e-governance.
The selected cities have already formed a special purpose vehicle (SPV) mandatory for receiving funding.
“The State Government will definitely bring Metro to Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Dombivli. The DPR is in progress and a decision will soon be taken once technical formalities are completed”, promised Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis after laying the foundation stone for the two 6-lane bridges to be constructed over Ulhas Creek at Motagaon and near Durgadi fort. He also communicated that the purpose of his America visit is to “sign an agreement with software giant Oracle to make Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Dombivli smart cities”, to a rousing response.
The Chief Minister further promised to take up more infrastructure projects to ensure total development of the metropolitan region. The Honourable Guardian Minister for Thane District Mr.Eknath Shinde; the Honourable State Minister for IT and Medical Education Mr.Ravindra Chavan and Honourable MP Mr.Kapil Patil thanked the State Government for showing keen interest in the development of the area and metropolitan region in general. It was only a few months back the CM had laid foundation stone for a 3-km long flyover at Vanjarpatti on Bhiwandi-Kalyan road running from Rajiv Gandhi chowk to Saibaba Mandir.
“Today we have one two-lane creek bridge and when the new bridge is completed the motorists will have eight lanes to experience congestion free drive”, elaborated Mr.UPS Madan, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA. Mr.Sanjay Khandare, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, offered vote of thanks.
At the Executive Committee of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), committee gave administrative approval to the appointment of contractors to construct two bridges over Ulhas River. The two 3+3-lane bridges will be constructed on the Bhiwandi-Kalyan-Adilabad NH-222 one near Durgadi Fort and the other on the Mankoli-Motagaon Road.
The bridge near the Fort is 25-meter wide and 380-meter long with approaches of 170 and 270 meters long. The Bridge on the Mankoli-Motagaon Road is 1225-meter long and 27.5-meter wide. M/s.Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd. and M/s.J.Kumar Infrastructure Ltd. will construct both the bridges. The estimated costs for the bridges are Rs.76/- crore and Rs.223/- crore respectively.
“While the upcoming bridge near Durgadi Fort will help clear the traffic congestion the bridge on the Mankoli-Motagaon Road will save at least one hour of Dombivlikars who wish to travel towards Mumbai, Nasik and Ahmedabad as they approach the Nasik Highway, notwithstanding reduction in fuel consumption and pollution. The Metropolitan Region is growing speedily and needs attention”, said Mr.UPS Madan, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.

A Commissioner who will not bow to political pressure - Support KDMC Commissioner E Ravindran!!

Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is all set to move ahead with the road widening work which will free Kalyan station of traffic.
However, the issue has become a battleground for E Ravindran, commissioner, KDMC who is going ahead with the job without paying any heed to political pressure. This decision has made him a favorite among the citizens of the twin cities.
The road near Kalyan (West) station has been a choc-a-bloc due to illegal hawkers encroaching the road. But all that is is bound to change with the road widening work which means the civic body will remove the illegal hawkers. Also, 311 shops in the area will be affected by this move.
The same happened in Dombivli illegal constructions near the station!!

One of the shops on the road is run by a minister's relative and this is believed to have started rumours regarding Ravindran's transfers. Allaying these rumours Ravindran said, "I have not received any transfer orders yet."
The rumour failed to stop the commissioner from going ahead with his decision. Also, his act of fearlessness has garnered support from the residents of the twin cities. "Whether it is illegal construction, road widening or dumping ground issue, this commissioner is doing what he can to resolve issues plaguing the city. One can say he is the best commissioner after T Chandrashekhar," said Nikhil Budhkar, a resident of Kalyan.
He added that Kalyan needs such a commissioner in order to become a 'Smart City'.
Another resident, Drishti Mane believes this move will help decongest traffic from Shivaji Chowk to Kalyan station. "The footpaths adjoining the roads are encroached by hawkers and shopkeepers, making it difficult for people not only to drive on the street but also to walk on the footpath," said Mane.
Dombivli resident Rajan Mukadam who staged a Nagada aandolan demanding an IAS officer as the KDMC commissioner also shares the same opinion.
He said, "It is after eight years that KDMC commissioner is an IAS officer and the wait has sufficed. We need such people to carry the good work that needs to be done in the city."

कल्याण- डोंबिवली पालिकेचे आयुक्त ई. रवींद्रन यांनी शहर परिसरात विकासाची कामे धडाक्याने हाती घेतली आहेत. पालिकेतील निविदेतील साखळी पद्धत मोडून काढली आहे. रवींद्रन यांच्या कामावर खूश झालेल्या शहरवासीयांना काही व्यापारी, राजकीय मंडळी आयुक्तांची शासनस्तरावर बदली करण्यासाठी प्रयत्नशील असल्याची कुणकुण लागली आहे. त्यामुळे संतप्त झालेल्या रहिवाशांनी कोणत्याही परिस्थितीत शासनाने आयुक्तांची बदली करू नये, यासाठी रेल्वे स्थानक परिसर, शहराच्या विविध भागात सह्यांची मोहीम सुरू केली आहे. आयुक्तांनी आपली बदली होणार नाही, असे स्पष्टीकरण दिले असले तरी रहिवासी त्यावर विश्वास ठेवण्यास तयार नाहीत. त्यामुळे कल्याणसह महापालिकेच्या परिसरातील नागरिकांनी आयुक्तांच्या पाठीशी खंबीरपणे उभे राहण्याचे ठरविले आहे.
